Sock Care Guide – How to Make Your Socks Last Longer

To keep your socks comfortable, durable, and looking new for as long as possible, follow these simple care tips.

1. Wash Socks Inside Out

Always turn socks inside out before washing. This helps remove sweat, bacteria, and skin particles while protecting the outer fabric and colors.

2. Wash at Low Temperature

Wash socks at 30–40°C (86–104°F). Lower temperatures protect cotton fibers and elastic threads, helping socks keep their shape and durability.

3. Wash Before First Wear

New socks should be washed before the first use. This removes production residues and allows the fibers to soften and settle naturally.

4. Avoid Tumble Drying

Whenever possible, air dry your socks. High heat from tumble dryers can weaken elastic fibers and shorten the lifespan of your socks.

5. Wash with Similar Colors

To maintain vibrant colors:

  • wash dark socks with dark clothing

  • wash white socks separately

  • wash bright colors with similar shades

6. Do Not Overload the Washing Machine

Avoid overloading your washing machine. Giving socks enough space reduces friction and prevents unnecessary fabric wear.

7. Store Socks Properly

Fold socks together instead of stretching them into tight balls. This helps preserve the elasticity and shape of the sock.

Originals Fine Rib Socks — Hot Chocolate

Brown is having a moment in menswear — and this is the sock that belongs to it. Hot Chocolate is a warm, mid-depth brown with just enough richness to read as intentional rather than neutral: darker than a camel, lighter than a dark chocolate, and perfectly calibrated for the palette that everyone is currently building around brown leather shoes and earth tones. The only brown in the Originals Fine Rib range, and the natural partner for everything in the tan-to-cognac wardrobe. Same 200-needle organic combed cotton construction and hand-linked toe, OEKO-TEX certified, knitted in Istanbul. Designed in Copenhagen.

Colour & Styling

Hot Chocolate occupies a unique position in the Originals Fine Rib range: it is the only warm brown, which makes it the natural choice for anyone building outfits around brown leather shoes, tan suede, camel wool, and the broader earth-tone wardrobe that has become central to contemporary menswear. Where forest green and army green complement brown leather as a contrast accent, Hot Chocolate blends into it — creating a tonal pairing from the ankle down that looks like the whole outfit was planned.

In tonal dressing terms, Hot Chocolate works as a mid-anchor in earth-tone outfits: warm enough to sit comfortably next to tan and camel, dark enough to provide depth against cream or off-white. It also works as a soft accent against charcoal or dark grey, where the warmth of the brown reads as a deliberate contrast to the cool neutral above.

FAQ

What shade of brown is Hot Chocolate?

Hot Chocolate is a warm, mid-depth brown — richer and darker than a camel or tan, but lighter and warmer than a dark espresso or chocolate brown. It sits in the tonal range of a medium milk chocolate or a well-worn cognac leather, which is exactly why it pairs so naturally with the tan, cognac, and dark brown leather shoes that dominate contemporary menswear. It reads as warm, grounded, and considered rather than dark or heavy.

What shoes work best with brown socks?

Brown leather shoes are the definitive pairing — Oxford, Derby, loafer, and monk strap styles in tan, cognac, or dark brown. Hot Chocolate creates a tonal pairing where the sock and shoe share the same warm palette, making the ankle-to-shoe transition seamless. Tan suede Chelsea boots and Wallabee-style crepe-sole shoes work equally well. For a slightly more visible contrast, dark brown shoes against the lighter Hot Chocolate sock read as a deliberate tonal pairing rather than an exact match.

Are brown socks appropriate for business casual or smart casual outfits?

Yes — particularly in smart casual and business casual environments where brown leather shoes are the footwear choice. Hot Chocolate works especially well in autumn and winter dressing, where the warm brown creates a cohesive palette with camel, tan, and earthy tones. In formal business settings with a dark suit and black shoes, navy or black is more conventional — Hot Chocolate is strongest when the shoes are brown.

How does Hot Chocolate compare to forest green as a pairing with brown shoes?

Both pair well with brown leather, but they do different things. Forest green creates a warm complementary contrast — the green and brown share earthy undertones but remain distinct, making the pairing look deliberately considered. Hot Chocolate creates a tonal pairing — sock and shoe inhabit the same warm brown palette, creating a seamless, monochromatic look from the ankle down. Forest green announces itself; Hot Chocolate blends in. The choice depends on whether you want the sock to be noticed.

Are these socks organic and certified?

Yes. Made from 75% organic combed cotton, 23% polyamide, and 2% elastane. The cotton is certified organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. The finished sock carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, confirming every component — including the warm brown dye — has been independently tested and verified free of harmful substances.

Can I buy these as part of a multipack?

Yes — purchasing 10 or more products unlocks a 15% discount. Hot Chocolate pairs naturally in a rotation with forest green, army green, and bordeaux for a complete earth-tone and autumn wardrobe rotation. See all curated multipacks →

Yes — worldwide, with free shipping above 75€ / 75£ / 100 USD / 400 DKK. 99.2% of orders ship the same day. Full shipping information →
